Connect Meta Ads to Claude via MCP

Set up the Meta Ads connector in Claude so you can monitor campaigns, check ROAS, and manage ad spend from a single chat window.

10 minutes Beginner July 2026

Purpose

This SOP walks you through connecting your Meta (Facebook/Instagram) Ads account to Claude using the MCP connector. Once connected, you can pull live campaign data, review performance metrics, and make budget or status changes directly from a Claude chat. No Ads Manager tabs, no spreadsheets.

Prerequisites

  • A Claude Pro, Team, or Enterprise account (Connectors are not available on the free tier)
  • A Meta Business Suite account with at least one active ad account
  • Admin or advertiser-level access on the ad account you want to connect
01

Open Claude Settings

Go to Claude and log in to your account.

Claude
claude.ai

Click your profile icon in the bottom-left corner, then select Settings.

02

Navigate to Connectors

Inside the Settings panel, find and click Connectors in the left sidebar. This is where all your MCP integrations live.

03

Add the Meta Ads MCP Address

Click Add Connector (or the equivalent button in the Connectors panel). You will be prompted to enter an MCP server address. Paste the following:

URL mcp.facebook.com/ads

Confirm and proceed to the authentication step.

04

Authenticate with Facebook

A Facebook login window will appear. Log in with the Facebook account that has access to your Meta Ads account.

  1. Enter your Facebook email and password
  2. Complete two-factor authentication if you have it enabled
  3. Review the permissions Claude is requesting and click Continue to authorise

Important

Use the same Facebook account that has admin or advertiser access to your Meta Business Suite. If you log in with a personal account that is not connected to the ad account, the connection will fail.

05

Select Your Ad Account

After authentication, you will see a list of ad accounts associated with your Facebook profile. Select the specific ad account you want Claude to access.

Note

If you manage multiple ad accounts, you can repeat this process later to add more. For now, pick the one you want to test with first.

06

Verify the Connection

Open a new Claude chat. Type a simple query to confirm the connector is working:

Prompt Show me my active campaigns.

If the connection is live, Claude will pull your campaign data directly from Meta and display it in the chat. You should see campaign names, statuses, and basic metrics.

Tip

If nothing comes back, check that the Meta Ads connector shows as "Connected" in your Settings. If it shows an error, disconnect and reconnect from Step 3.

07

Start with Read-Only Prompts

This connector can spend real money the moment you ask it to. While you are learning how it works, treat it as a reporting tool only. Ask Claude to show you data, but do not ask it to change anything yet.

Warning

Claude can pause campaigns, adjust budgets, and reallocate spend if you instruct it to. Do not give it action commands until you have verified its reporting accuracy against what you see in Ads Manager.

Use read-only prompts like these to get comfortable:

  1. Ask for a summary of active campaigns over the last 7 days
  2. Request a breakdown of spend vs. ROAS by campaign
  3. Ask it to flag any campaigns with a ROAS below your target threshold
08

Make Changes (When Ready)

Once you trust what Claude is showing you, you can start giving it action commands. Common actions:

  1. Pause underperforming campaigns (e.g., "Pause all campaigns with ROAS under 2")
  2. Reallocate budget (e.g., "Move $50/day from Campaign A to Campaign B")
  3. Adjust targeting or creative settings where the connector supports it

Tip

Start with low-risk actions like pausing a clearly underperforming ad. Verify the change took effect by checking Ads Manager. Build trust incrementally before handing over larger budget decisions.

Starter Prompts

Copy these into your Claude chat after connecting the Meta Ads MCP. All are read-only unless marked otherwise.

Performance Overview

Show me all active campaigns from the last 7 days. Include spend, impressions, clicks, and ROAS for each.

Underperformers

Flag any campaigns with a ROAS under 2 in the last 7 days. Show me the spend and return on each.

Top Creatives

Which ad creatives have the highest click-through rate this month? Rank them by CTR.

Budget Reallocation (Action)

Pause the campaign with the lowest ROAS and move its daily budget to the campaign with the highest ROAS.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Claude actually spend real money on my ad account?

Yes. Once connected, Claude can make changes to your campaigns if you ask it to. This includes pausing ads, adjusting budgets, and reallocating spend. Start with read-only queries until you trust the data it hands you.

Which Claude plan do I need?

You need Claude Pro, Team, or Enterprise. The Connectors feature is not available on the free tier.

Can I connect multiple ad accounts?

During setup you select which ad account Claude can access. You can repeat the connector setup to add additional accounts if you manage more than one.

Is my ad data stored by Claude?

Claude pulls data from your Meta account in real time during a conversation. Review Anthropic's and Meta's data handling policies for specifics on data retention and privacy.

Does this work with Instagram Ads too?

Yes. Meta Ads Manager handles both Facebook and Instagram ad placements through the same system. If you run Instagram ads through Meta Business Suite, they will show up through this connector.

Troubleshooting

Claude says it cannot access my ad data

Go to Settings > Connectors and check if the Meta Ads connector shows as "Connected." If it shows an error or is disconnected, remove it and re-add it from Step 3. Make sure you are logging in with the Facebook account that has advertiser or admin access to the ad account.

The connector authenticated but shows no campaigns

You may have selected the wrong ad account during Step 5. If you manage multiple accounts under the same Business Suite, disconnect and reconnect, paying close attention to the account picker. Also confirm that the account has active or recently active campaigns.

Claude made a change I did not intend

Go to Meta Ads Manager immediately and reverse the change manually. Claude acts on what you ask, and there is no built-in undo. This is why Step 7 recommends starting with read-only queries. If you need to restrict Claude's ability to make changes, disconnect the connector and reconnect with reduced permissions.
